About IFS

Internal Family Systems or IFS therapy is the psychotherapeutic model that I use. It is not family therapy. The name refers to each person's family of parts, recognizing that each of us has many aspects to our personality – our parts. During a session I will guide you in the process of noticing and getting to know them. Our parts often feel familiar because they have been present throughout our lives, dictating thoughts and feelings about ourselves and others. In this process, you will begin to understand how these parts came to be. This new information enables you to experience appreciation and acceptance, and this helps you transform long-held beliefs that were interfering with your outlook on life. The key is to maintain an ongoing relationship with your parts, which leads you to experience confidence, trust, balance, and feelings of calm and ease.

About Me
___________

I am a licensed clinician and have been working as a bicultural, bilingual therapist with people in both Mexico and the U.S. Having spent years practicing and learning about the human experience, including my own, I now specialize in working with people who have a curiosity toward understanding their inner world. IFS has helped me personally connect with my innate sense of calm, confidence, and clarity. I have been able to explore my own reactions and patterns in a way that I had never experienced before. This is a time in my life where I can engage with the world from a place of curiosity and courage. I will share this practice with you, including tools that you can use in your everyday life. Similar to having a good diet or getting enough exercise, it's an upkeep of your mental well-being.

Therapy Frequency
__________________

You can decide the frequency and length of your sessions. Depending on what you want to accomplish, sessions can be 60 minutes or 80 minutes in length. It is recommended that you start with weekly sessions, but at any point you can decide if you would like to change to once every other week for moderate support or once a month for check-in and maintenance.

We can schedule an introduction call so you can tell me a little bit about yourself and what you would like to work on and at the same time address any questions or concerns you may have about beginning self work at this time. This will give us a chance to get a feel for each other and see if we are a good match.
